Zoom Gfx-8 Special features of the Zoom GFX-8

1. You can adjust all of the Gfx-8 patch parameters on the device! Even the new G7.1 and G9.1 ut do not offer this.

Musicians will like that. You have direct access to the sound with your fingers as we know it of old fashioned effects units.
A computer is not necessary.

Front view: All distortion types, EQ, modulation, reverb, echo and time-modulations
can be chosen and adjusted from the front panel.

2. The Gfx-8 makes it possible to route the signal through an external distortion or another effects device.
The routing is stored in the drive section of a sound patch. So you can mix additional analogue or digital effects with the possibilies of your GFX-8.

3. Two freely programmable custom distortions provide expansion of the built-in drives.
Thus, for example, a treble booster can be simulated which costs as much as the entire Gfx-8.

Zoom Gfx-8 Technical Data of the Zoom GFX-8

The Zoom Gfx-8 offers good value for money. It is a great multi-effects unit for electric guitar with amp simulation, modulation pedal and an integrated tuner.

Zoom Gfx-8 Comparing the Zoom GFX-8 with G7.1 and G9.2

Device Good Bad
Zoom GFX-8
  • dramatic modifications in frequency range possible
  • 2 Custom distortions with 6 freely adjustable filters in each branch
  • quasi-parametric EQ with selectable center frequencies
  • good visible display
  • routing to an external effects device / distortion possible
  • all effects can be selected via switches directly at the device
  • plastic foot switches (not very stable)
  • global amp simulation and cabinet simulation are affecting all patches
  • amp simulation and cabinet simulation can not be stored with individual patches
  • file date format very comlicated
G7.1 ut
  • 24 bit resolution, 96 kHz sample rate
  • more built-in drive unit models
  • cabinet simulation is stored within a patch
  • PC audio interface via USB-connection
  • real tube in the the audio pathway
  • very stable box and switches
  • import and export of patches with an text-editor compatible data format
  • no parametric EQ, fixed frequencies
  • no freely programmable filters, you are reduced to use the built-in drive models
  • amp simulation works globally and can not be stored with single patches
  • very bad visible display, that's why the chromatic tuner is not suitable on stage
G9.2 in addition to G7.1
  • external effects device can be routed
  • x-y pedal, 2nd pedal
same as the G7.1
